The spicy flu is here and she seems to want to stay which means a lot of us are going to face a few bouts of isolation, quarantine and/or avoiding gyms and exercise studios. So what can you do to keep your body moving? Workout at home of course! (We highly recommend LUXE Pilates) Below are 10 of the many reasons that working out at home can be much more beneficial to your health, goals and even your wallet! What are your favourite parts of working out at home?
1. Like ABBA said, Money Money Money
Gym and/or exercise studios have large overheads which make your membership fees much higher than online exercise programs, not to mention the astronomical cost of fuel t o get your booty to and from class each day. Plus, within a gym the culture of owning the best brands can be overwhelming which may make you fork out more on your gym wear than you'd like to (compared to your free, hold filled, super-comfy ex-boyfriends shirt).
2. Tick-Tock, time is valuable!
Time is a precious commodity that not many of us can afford to waste, especially in the mornings when you have about 200 things to get done before work or school or dropping your kids off - or in the evenings when you're already pooped from your day. Working out from home saves you those precious minutes and hours that you would spend on the road travelling to class, avoiding traffic and making your 15 minute workout.. only 15 minutes.
3. COVID-19 Prevention
As you would have noticed, as soon as any restrictions change in regards to visiting exercise buildings during a COVID outbreak- the gym is one of the first to go. Which means you either cant get your workout in because they're closed OR you have to wear a mask most of the time OR you risk exposing yourself to the germs that undoubtedly accumulate on the equipment (we are trusting strangers to clean properly after all).
4. Mum Life / Busy Life
Do you have little ones that commandeer 99% of your schedule or a career/hobby that dominates how you sschedule each day? That's where working out online saves your behind! No more trying to squeeze a 6am or 3pm class into your planner, with online workouts you choose when are where at the touch of a (really nice) button.
5. Support from far-away friends
Another great aspect of working form home is when your best friend lives too far away from you to share a gym - you can share your online workouts though! Organise workout times together, login and workout together (you can even do so on FaceTime to pump each other up!)
6. Online community
Working out online isn't a lonely activity, there are hundreds if not thousands of people also working out online and most online memberships (like us at LUXE) offer a safe space to communicate, pump each other up and share tips online!
7. Anxiety be gone!
Is the thought of walking into a gym and working out in front of strangers making your anxiety peak? Is the anxious thoughts of wondering what anyone thinks of you holding you back from moving your body? That's how home workouts can be your saving grace! No-one can see you, no=one can hear you, its just you and the screen working that booty until your burning!
8. It isn't forever
Maybe you're not in the position to go inside a gym, you live too far away (or fuel is too expensive) but you miss it? No worries! Workout at home to stay on track and keep moving until your circumstances change and you can get back into the studio - then you can have best of both worlds!
9. Building your confidence
Working out alone at home means you can try things without the fear of failure - because who will know? Trying to master a pose? Beat your PB? Do a handstand for 5 minutes? Keep working at home and watch your confidence skyrocket!!
10. It is SO fun
